I found a new one, Tom.

speak and spell
You're a Speak & Spell!! You nerd, you. Just
because you were disguised as a toy doesn't
mean you weren't educational, you sneaky
bastard.

Check out Ogre-Sized M&M's. I haven't seen them in the store, but they're a hoot! Thanks to Bonne Marie for the laugh this morning.

In other news, I have finished a tank I worked in Debbie Bliss Cotton Denim in a light blue. I needed a faster project, because working on fours on my Dale fuschia for the belly-along just was creeping along. I used the pattern for Olive from Rowan but minus the sleeves. It's blocking, so hopefully this afternoon I'll be able to sew it up.

Tonight we have graduation, and all teachers are required to go. We get a shortened workday as a trade off which is very cool. What isn't cool is that I have a county-wide meeting this afternoon. Oh well. Figures.

You're a lollipop!! You're known for your coolness,
for you are a trend setter. You're a natural
leader, and are good under pressure. People
often seek you out for advice, for you have
great insight.

This does match with being a teacher.

I found out yesterday that I am pregnant. This will be my first. I'm a little hesitant about telling everyone (as it is so very early), but Dad sent out the family distribution-list email, so I decided to give the hint last night. Miguel and I are thrilled and know we have a lot of decisions to make in the coming months (name, rearranging of rooms, hospital, and more). I do plan on teaching next year and going ahead for my EdS. Busy, but if others can do it...

Today I'm off the the bookstore to find a book on "my condition". I've gotten some good recommendations so I hope to pick one or two up. Then, we have PINS today. I can't decide what to bring along. I had better hurry up on the tank or I won't be able to wear it until next summer (groan!). I should be able to finish it this weekend, though. I'm on the right front of the V. I'm not sure if I'll be able to concentrate on it while at PINS, so it might just be a "show and tell" project. I might bring along a hand spindle and some roving. I haven't done any spinning in AGES, so that is one possiblility.

Tonight, Miguel and I are going out to see Shrek 2 at the Mall of Georgia. Tomorrow, I'm going to see Troy with Maria at 1:30 if anyone wants to come along.

Had to work today. No sub. Grrr... Kids were decent, for a Friday. I guess it helps that it was the second to last Friday for them. Pretty easy day.

Maria and Daye came over for shrimp cocktail. Daye, however, doesn't eat boiled shrimp, so she brought along some Publix spinach dip, chicken taragon dip, and large Wheat Thins. Yum! We sat around, talked, and ate. It was a lovely evening! Just what I needed (what we all needed, I think). Daye and I knitted while the three of us gabbed and listened to the 80's digital cable station. :) They left about 9 PM. It's rough getting old! Hopefully, we'll be able to do this again, really soon.

Wow! Blogger has a new posting look. This will take some getting used to.

Ahem. Sorry. Back to the post.

I'm still working on my Belly Along hosted by Sskeins. I've finished about 8 inches of Fuschia, and I'm a little worried it will be too little. Maybe I'm in denial, but I must wait and see. If it is too small, Daye will get a new present. :)

Tomorrow is Friday! Yippee! It might be a mental health day. Kids are squirrely, and tomorrow would be a sub-worthy day. A video, tests, guest speaker, and puzzle pages are in my students' futures in Mrs. Almaraz's classes for Friday. If a sub picks up my assignment, I will be one very happy lady.

What will I do with my day? Take pics of knitting. Knit. Clean. Go grocery shopping and run to the bank. Sleep in. Get the place ready for Maria. She's coming over for some Mexican shrimp cocktail and margaritas. Should be a nice evening (hopefully with no school!). Now, if a sub doesn't pick it up, I will be at school as usual. (Fingers crossed!)

Yesterday I came home to a nice surprise. Miguel bought me a huge! African Violet (I think) and a cute little bunch of irises, gerber daisies, and white something-or-others. Pics tomorrow. Anyway, he got good husband points. Grin!

Just a quick post before I'm off again!
Yesterday I met Julie for the first time. Daye and I went to visit her and see the much-talked-about GSRP (Great Stash Reduction Project) box. It was a lot of fun to sort through the goodies others had left. I put in three skeins of Cotton Fleece (Brown Sheep) and two skeins of Lion Homespun left over from my poncho. Hopefully, Daye and I will be able to convince Julie to come out to PINS at the end of this month.

Last night Maria had her Friends Finale party (fiesta!). There were seven of us. We ate, drank, and laughed a lot. It was a good finale, IMHO.

This afternoon I'm off to see Johnson (my old school) play in the third round of the state soccer play-offs. Must. Buy. More. Allergy. Medicine. I won't make it much longer without some medicinal aid. I want to get there early because it will be packed and I hate fighting parking. I'll take my knitting, a hat, and some sun block. It's at least 87 degrees! Oh well. I'm off and running!

Mine was right on! August 14. What's yours and is it true to you?

The GSRP box is in Oakwood! Yippee! Julie and I have been emailing and she's been on my ZonkBoard. I get to meet her Thursday, bring a donation of my own, and pick out some goodies. Neat-o! Can't wait to meet you in person, Julie!

I'm back from NC and had a great time! Maria and I left here at 6:50 AM and were in Welcome, NC (near Winston-Salem around 11 AM. Our first stop was The Dempsey Essick Gallery. Maria's family has been buying art from him for about twenty years. He is up and coming in the NC art scene. I loved his artwork so much I had to bring some home with me. I bought "Carolina Heritage" and "View from the Veranda". The later is painted on a tile, matted, and framed. The other one is a small print, also matted and framed. The artist was in the gallery and offered to sign the pieces and wrote a little note on the back. Too cool! Maria says he's almost never in the shop, so I feel extra special. We talked about Charleston (where I'm from) and suggested that he paint some Charleston sweet water grass paintings. He loved the idea (maybe he was just humoring me?). I told him to paint balls of yarn in them, and all my knit-buds would buy them up like crazy. Grin! I can't wait to find the perfect spot to hang my two lovely paintings.

Next we headed to Salem Creek, a gift store too wonderful for words (and the checkbook!) I was good and only left with a beautiful bouquet of summer faux (fake just sounded too crude!) flowers, a home fragrance spray (smells a little like mens cologne), a mix for lemon ice tea, and a hand-painted glass soap pump (for my kitchen sink dish detergent) with purple pansies.

Before heading to our hotel, we stopped and bought some delicious bagels for lunch (and to bring home). We checked in, freshened up, and headed to Rudy (Maria's brother) and Jennifer's House-Warming Party. Stayed for a few hours, and then it was back to the hotel for their complementary "happy hour" with her aunt and uncle. I brought my knitting (got another inch and a half knit in the car) and happily sipped, talked and knitted away. We caught a "Law and Order SVU" on TV before turning in around 10:30 PM. Good, fun day!

The ride home was uneventful today. Got home around 2:30 and sat on the couch and relaxed until dinner time. Miguel and I tried out the new Mickey Piggs BBQ on 211. The Brunswick stew is wonderful, the sweet potato fries are very good, but the ribs (according to DH) were a bit dry. Three and a half star rating from us. :)
